Conflicts Outside Of Europe

Japan joined up with British forces from Wei-hai-Wei in besieging Kiaochow, the German colony on mainland China, which was taken after a 2-month siege on 7th November 1914. Many people say that they also did this in order to gain more global acclaim and be recognized as a power. Another foreign event was Gallipoli which was a battle of French and British vs. the Ottomans, the Ottomans won this battle and it was considered a major victory for the Central Powers.

They were many reasons why the U.S joined the war, first off there were reports of German ships off the east coast of the United States along with that economics played a heavy role a English ship bound for New York was sunk by a German ship this attack killed 128 Americans. Another aspects was political Woodrow Wilson did not necessarily want to go to war however when roosevelt announced he was running for presidency he was pressured into the popular decision
